Act One believe in rewarding our pupils for every step they take in their dance or drama class. Simple and inclusive, recognising and rewarding attendance, discipline, and effort.
Dancers and Musical Theatre pupils will work towards International Dance Rewards and Acting Academy will work towards the LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts) exams and qualifications.
Internation Dance Rewards
The IDR are a scheme of badges & certificates to recognise each and every achievement along a child’s journey in dance and musical theatre. It is fun and inclusive, developing happy and motivated students from their very first bend and stretch to a solo performance at age 16. They are assessed by completing a set of tasks set by the board at each stage, by the class teacher, there is no requirement to perform for an examiner. Certificates and badges (to sew onto their Act One hoody sleeve) rewarded to the student and the end of each term. There is no additional fee for these awards.
IDR Certificates will be awarded in:
Ballet

LAMDA examinations
We encourage our Acting Academy pupils to undertake their LAMDA exams in Acting. We work towards these in our classes. Each pupil will be required to learn 2 monolgues or duologues and perform them infront of an examiner at a public centre in Manchester, once a year.
Not only will the pupil gain an internationally recognised qualification, they will gain knowledge on the theatre form, gain confidence and learn how to perform under pressure, building resilience. Pupils develop their vocal, physical and interpretive skills to creative characterisations and authentic performances.
LAMDA exam fees begin at around £40 for Grade 1 and increase with each grade. Your pupil will be given guidance and information on the grade they will be entering.
