FAQs

What happens on my first day?

On arrival at one of our centres, please speak to our friendly staff who will ask you to fill out an emergency contact form. There is also a section to indicate any medical conditions that our teachers need to be made aware of. Please allow at least 10 minutes for this.

What should my child wear?

For your child’s first class a tracksuit or leggings and a T-shirt is ideal, with soft soled shoes or trainers. Act One uniform is kept to a minimum, with our only compulsory garment being our branded T-shirt, with your child’s own choice of black bottoms with black jazz shoes or pumps.

Do I have to pay fees up front?

Act One are happy to offer your child's first class as a one off, free trial class (please see our classes page for individual prices). If your child enjoys their first class, fees for the remaining weeks of the month must be paid in full on your second week!

Can parents watch the sessions?

Strictly no parents are permitted to spectate our classes under any circumstances due to safeguarding. There is often a place you can wait outside the room on your first class.

Will my child be safe?

Yes. Only trained staff teach your child. They’re selected and approved by our experienced team and hold enhanced DBS certificates and are licensed chaperones. Plus, at least one member of staff at each centre has a First Aid Certificate. We strive to offer a very high ratio of staff to children at all times, above the recommended amount.

Will my child be given the chance to perform in shows and take exams?

The chance to take exams with LAMDA in Acting or Musical Theatre, or Arts Award grades Bronze-Gold, and partake in festivals and shows is available to all our children who are in the relevant age group. All children who partake in classes are expected to take part in the school's shows. Exams are optional.

Where do I get my Act One T-shirt?

T-shirts and hoodies are available to order in class, please ask for an order form. Payment is required up front. However, we recommend that new parents make sure their child is fully committed before purchasing a uniform.
